Printable Time Worksheets for Kids

Some kids learn to tell time faster than others. Parents and teachers can introduce the concept of telling time to preschoolers and kindergarteners. It is generally in first grade that kids are able to read time more confidently and accurately. Free and printable time worksheets available online are a valuable resource that can be used at home as well as in the classroom!

Teaching Kids to Tell Time

The concept of time can be a little difficult for kids to grasp initially. To get them started, it is a good idea to point out the time on digital clocks. Move them to analog clocks when you think they’re ready. You could also use printable time worksheets with images of clocks showing different times.

In order to be able to read time in analog clocks, they first need to comprehend the difference between and importance of ‘hours’ and ‘minutes’. The fact that both of these follow a different number system (hours = 1 to 12 and minutes = 1 to 60) will need to be highlighted.

Start with simple examples like 1:00, 5:00, 10:00, etc. Here, the focus is only on the ‘hours’ hand. Familiarize kids with counting by 5 and 10 to help them read time more accurately.
